Motor claim procedures depend on whether your insurance cover is a Comprehensive Cover or a Third Party Cover.

2. Do not admit any liability without the insurer's prior consent.

3. Submit any writ of summons/letters from any third parties to the insurer as soon as possible.

4. If the accident involves third party bodily injury, make sure you have reported the case to the police and let the insurer have the police reference number for making inquiries.

B. Comprehensive Cover

Do the same as above.

2. If the accident involves own damage to your (the insured) vehicle :

d. Inform your mortgagee about the accident if your car is under mortgage.

e. Get a repair quotation from the repairer. The repair quotation must be submitted to and approved by the insurer before any repairing commences.

f. After receiving the repair quotation, the insurer will appoint a motor surveyor to access the quotation.

g. The Company will instruct the repairer to commence repair works upon receipt of the survey report.

h. After the repair work is completed, you have to sign a ˇ§Discharge Formˇ¨ to the repairer to take delivery of the vehicle.

If it is the Other party's fault :

- In case of vehicles in collision, if it is the other party's fault, not yours, do claim the other party's insurer instead of yours. In this way, you can obtain compensation without affecting your No Claim Bonus.

- Remember: a bad claims record may result in a higher premium at renewal.
